tiffany's good advice

-- to all the do'ers out there... I'm learning --- that sometimes trusting, being and waiting is really good to do... Tiffany the third member of the big table farm team went on a vacation two weeks ago and right before she left she provided a shoulder to me as well as some excellent advice... she said (to paraphrase) that sometimes doing nothing is OK.. Tiffany knows Brian and I quite well at this point and in a sense gave me permission to take a step back... we've had a ton of upheaval with the winery project the last few weeks and it has been quite a roller coaster givin' all the work, support, heart and soul put in to date!  I'm holding a space of great hope and trust in my partner right now... I'm  taking this time to wait (and lick my wounds a bit) ..  I'm waiting for the dust to settle and the path to become clear.... to use my brothers boating quote when it's foggy SLOW down and announce your position... - thank  you Tiffany we look forward to having you back - you were missed...

old and new

I've been dreaming about this before and after... I'd still like to take a ladder and a machete to get a little higher up and get the angle 'just right' but this is a good start... so the old photo is from ~ 1900 and the new photo is from a few days ago...  a little piece of history is alive and well...

this photo would not be possible with out our amazing community! thanks to all of you for walking the journey with us!!

At long last the summer wines are here!!

Somehow amid all the things happening around the farm we are keeping our eyes on the prize ... which is getting the wines in bottle and to YOU!!

We have two new beautiful wines to share with you.

The Laughing Pig Rosé and The Wirtz Garden!

The Laughing Pig Rose is dry and delicious but refined and beautiful. Great as a sipper by itself and as always our dry rose accompanies a wide variety of fare. We made the 2013 rose with Saigné that was placed on top of fruit and allowed to soak and slowly start to ferment for several days. This was then pressed and transferred to neutral barrels. The 2013 LPR was fermented to dryness with malolatic complete and bottled unfined and unfiltered. A beautiful and balanced wine!

The Wirtz Garden is an edelzwicker - Originally called “Zwicker” (blend), the prefix Edel (noble) was added to mark the presence of noble grape varieties. Our edelzwicker is a co-fermented Blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and a little bit of Sylvaner. The grapes for this wine all come from the Wirtz Vineyard and by our guess were planted with the intention of making this wine. The Wirtz Garden displays a clear yellow color, with an aromatic, fruity and harmonious nose. The palate is supple and well-balanced with a combination of fruit and freshness in the mouth. This wine is a great accompaniment to summer fare - salads and charcuterie really let it shine.
